HEALTH CONSULTANTS
WHO ARE HEALTH CONSULTANTS?
These are trained volunteers who have personal experience of living with a diagnosis and have undergone special training at SVK Liitto. They are well versed in the Finnish care system and work according to the ethical principles of equal support, using an evidence-based approach and reliable sources of information.
HOW DO THEY HELP?
Health consultants offer support to patients and their loved ones, helping them navigate the everyday aspects of living with a diagnosis and navigating the Finnish care system. They provide information about available support options and help those who have been diagnosed to adapt to the new environment.
HOW DOES THE CONSULTATION TAKE PLACE?
A consultation with a peer health consultant can be either a one-time (request/response) or a follow-up of your situation. Communication with an assistant always remains confidential, and you will not be forced to give advice. The main goal is to help you understand current issues and support you on the path to adaptation and management of your condition.
